Spotlight On Evolution Lighting: A Branding Case Study By Reno Brand Design Firm David Branby Advertising, Inc.

Perhaps this story will shine a little light on the common conundrum of whether or not to brand your small business professionally from the start. Evolution Lighting Rep LLC, a new company specializing in LED and advanced lighting for commercial and residential applications, came to us to print up some materials they had designed using a popular DIY site. The problem was, the so-called “new brand” was generic in the extreme. Naturally, we had a little “come to Jesus” talk with them about the importance of branding as the foundation of your overall marketing strategy. Or, as George Bernard Shaw famously said, “Be careful to be born well.” Shaw was likely remarking on the notion that it’s more advantageous to be born wealthy than poor, but the idea I take away for branding is, you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression, so do it right, from the start, and everything becomes easier. The new brand is now lighting up Evolution Lighting’s business system, e-signatures, signage, apparel, and it sets the tone for their in-development website, too. We salute Evolution Lighting for giving birth to one of the strongest brands in lighting in our region, and for allowing us to illuminate this issue for generations of bright new entrepreneurial companies to come.

Reno Web Design Firm David Branby Advertising, Inc. Chosen For “Great Basin Exteriors: A Photographic Survey” Website Design

The State of Nevada and the Nevada Arts Council have chosen Reno website design and branding firm David Branby Advertising, Inc. to design the companion website for the traveling exhibition, “Great Basin Exteriors: A Photographic Survey.” The exhibition, appearing in a dozen galleries throughout the Great Basin, presents a compilation of images by three photographers—Daniel Cheek, Adam Jahiel, and Nolan Preece—who have each documented a changing Western landscape. The stirring, evocative photographs in this curated collection explore loss, change, and abandonment in the Great Basin. The proposed website will incorporate a wide range of social media to allow viewers to join a discussion moderated by the artists. ”Great Basin Exteriors: A Photographic Survey” is currently showing in Fallon, Nevada, and you can find the schedule for this and other Nevada Arts Council traveling exhibitions here.

New Summit Website Design Showcases Reno’s Premier Engineering Firm

We’re proud to announce the pre-Christmas launch (whew!) of the new 100+ page website for Summit Engineering, a venerable Reno-based civil, geotechnical, and mining engineering firm that’s been engineering the West since 1978. Nearly a year in the making, this new website offers a comprehensive look at Summit’s many engineering disciplines, with 50 case studies, search-engine optimization built-in from the ground up, and lots of added social technology to boot. As part of a holistic brand-regeneration process, we hooked Summit Engineering up with a proprietary email marketing program, proprietary large-file transfer system, and lots of other cool marketing tools to keep Summit Engineering communicating with customers and prospects throughout the year. Our sincere thanks to Heather Gallagher Smith for stepping in and “rescuing” this project when a previous marketing manager departed unexpectedly mid-project, and gratitude to all of Summit’s Reno and Elko staff for heeding the call and helping assemble the content on top of their already-busy schedules. From all of us here at DBA, Inc, a Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good (web)site!
